{"id":2494,"date":"2023-05-05T15:46:39","date_gmt":"2023-05-05T14:46:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eszter-maura.eu\/?p=2494"},"modified":"2023-05-12T15:55:12","modified_gmt":"2023-05-12T14:55:12","slug":"","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eszter-maura.eu\/nl\/heres-to-the-beauty-of-heartbreak\/","title":{"rendered":"","raw":""},"content":{"rendered":"","protected":false,"raw":""},"excerpt":{"rendered":"","protected":false,"raw":""},"author":1,"featured_media":2495,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_en_post_content":"I left C\u00e1diz on Monday, a place where I felt more vibrant, more\u00a0myself\u00a0than I\u2019d felt for a long, long time.\n\nAs I counted the days remaining, things of mine kept breaking every day \u2013 my saddle, my phone screen, you name it, up to the point where on the day after I left, the East wind arrived, at 40 km\/h, almost flying me back to the city. The signs are all there, I\u2019d say, if I were superstitious: C\u00e1diz doesn\u2019t want to let me go.\n\nNot \u00a0that I wanted to leave.\n\nI was surprised by how many goodbyes I had to say; even more by how very difficult many of them proved to be.\n\nAnd while I\u2019ve managed to get most, if not all, of the broken things fixed, there\u2019s one that \u2013 obviously \u2013 has no quick fix, and I can only hope that the coming two months and a half of cycling adventure will serve to heal it, or at least provide a distraction.\n\nThat said, not even the prospect of adventure could give me\u00a0enthusiasm. I want to do this, I want to finish this trip I\u2019ve been dreaming and planning for over twelve years, but right now, I couldn\u2019t care less. If it weren\u2019t for some common sense and a great deal of stubbornness to finish what I started, to keep to plan, I might have stayed. For a while at least.\n\nBetter leave while I don\u2019t want to.\n\nNow, do I realise that, however painful it was to say goodbye, I\u2019ll probably lose contact with many of these folks?\n\nYes.\n\nIs it clear that the few months I spent in the city were prety much the \u201choneymoon phase\u201d of living in a new place?\n\nAlso yes.\n\nAm I aware that the very transience of this setup is a great part of the magic?\n\nOf course.\n\nStill, I spent five months of my life there.\n\nI shed the armour of numbness that I\u2019d been wearing for longer than I care to recall.\n\nI became, however fleetingly, part of the place.
